During our childhood, many of us dreamed of becoming super models...walking down the run way, wearing beautiful cloths while flash bulbs are exploding all around us and photographers are fighting to take our picture. Yet, there are some amongst us that would rather be designing the clothes instead of modeling them. Does this describe you? Have you always been intrigued by fashion trends, who designs them and how? Or, do you rearrange furniture and design the interior of rooms in your head, wishing you could actually do it in reality and make money while doing it?
The ability to create something from nothing, combining colors with materials in such a way that your artistic talents come to life and are recognized as unique has always been your dream. It is time to make it your reality. Now, it has become possible to obtain a degree in design through the internet by enrolling into an online program which would allow you to study at home and continue working in order to earn a paycheck.
There is a wide variety of specialty areas in the design world to choose from, and depending where your unique artistic talents take you, there are many online degree programs available through well known, respected institutions.
If fashion design is your desired career, you should know that there are many areas within this career that you might want to explore. Visual merchandise designers are responsible for creating window displays for department stores in order to spearhead marketing campaigns. Another is set designers, who work on movie sets in which they are able to create what the story calls for. These designers also work for trade shows or museums, inventing ways to display items or art pieces.
Of course, the clothing designer has the ability to show his/her unique clothing line and apparels. One can either work with other designers, or independently; however, this is a very competitive area within the fashion world.
Interior design is also a way in which to show your unique artistic talent by combining form with function. It is seen in many different settings including retail stores, residential homes, hotels, offices, and even in hospitals. The ability to achieve a balance with what clients want or imagine with your own unique signature can be challenging, but also very fulfilling.
As with most professions, the greater the education, the bigger the demand will be for your services, plus job security and advancement will be easier to achieve. An Associate's degree in design is a great place to start; however, it should be in your educational plan to advance onto the Bachelor's degree or even higher to a Master's degree.
A big difference between this type of occupation/career than that of other areas, is that it is always changing due to new ideas and concepts. Also, when society changes, so does the design industry, for example the avocado green color that was used throughout homes in the 1970's. Now, we identify that color with that era in our past, although, it may become popular again with the next generation. If a career in design is what you have always hoped for, now is the time to recognize that you can obtain the necessary education through an online degree program, such as a Bachelor's degree in fashion or design, to help insure your future success, so wait no further; enroll! If you are interested in the many online programs available,
