Bangkok is a city that is known to set the latest trends in fashion, especially in South East Asia, and the Bangkok International Fashion and Leather Fair held there every year plays an important role in making this happen.
The International Fashion and Leather Fair is held on an annual basis at the BITEC exhibition center, which is located on Bangna-Trad road in Bangna. The event is known to draw a large number of attendees including several world class designers in both the leather and the fashion industry from Thailand and around the world. The main organisers of this fashion and leather fair is the Department of Export Promotion Ministry of Commerce, a government organisation which is a branch of the Royal Thai Government Office of International Trade Fair Activities.
The exhibitors at the International Fashion and Leather Fair will have the opportunity to gain valuable leverage into the fashion and leather market in not only Thailand, but also in the rest of South East Asia. These exhibitors hail from various parts of Asia and Thailand, while a good number of designers fly in from Europe and America as well. Many of the exhibitors use the International Fashion and Leather Fair as a platform to launch their new creations as new talent is showcased here. The fair mainly focuses on clothing for both men and women and shoes. Apart from these, the exhibits also include accessories and different types of leather goods and crafts.
Bangkok as a city is a fascinating venue and despite some political unrest in 2010, the city remains wonderful location to visit and the Thai food, local people and the facilities for international exhibitions and conferences are excellent and of world class level. If you have the chance to visit Bangkok on business try and get a few spare days off for the end of your visit and also consider the wonderful city of Chang Mai and the islands down in the South of the country.
If you are involved with the leather industry or interested in it from a consumer point of view, some other very good shows include the annual 'China Leather Exhibition', the 'International Footwear and Leather Show' and the 'India International Leather Fair'. There are several good leather exhibitions and as you attend a number of these shows you will see many of the same exhibitors, as they try to market their leather products to a global market.
